Ruhiya Khalil is a 33-year-old, from Al Shuraija area, Dimnat Khadir District, Taiz Governorate. Ruhiya married at an early age and gave birth to four children (two sons – two daughters),
unfortunately, Ruhiya is like many other girls who did not have the opportunity to study or even go to school. Ruhiya says that her eldest son, who is 12 years old, also did not have the opportunity to go to school, due to the difficult living conditions that the family is going through, and one of her daughters has a disability. Ruhiya talks about their financial situation by saying that her husband collects firewood and goes to sell it in the neighboring areas in order to earn some money.
Ruhiya says, “As usual, I went to fetch water from a distance because we live in an area deprived of services due to the current circumstances. While I was fetching the water, I felt the pain of labor and a feeling of losing my children whom I left at home, which forced me to go back to them and leave them with a neighbor and go with my eldest son to Al Rahidah Hospital because my husband had not returned from collecting and selling firewood when I arrived at Al Rahidah Hospital, which I heard previously it provides free health services and supported by Deem for Development Organization with by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA fund.
When Ruhiya arrived at the obstetric emergency department, she was received by the medical team, telling them, “Please help me and my baby”. All necessary tests for Ruhiya were examined including vital signs, and the delivery process was normal and successful and the child came out in good health. Free medicines were provided to the mother who thanked the medical team for the good treatment and hoped that these humanitarian services provided in the hospital persist
