“I was suffering throughout my pregnancy from severe pain, and I could not afford going to any health facility to follow up on my pregnancy and check on my health, because my husband works for daily wages on a vegetable stall and barely provides us with a living,” says Huda, a resident of Al Dhikra village in Al Taiziyah district – Taiz governorate. She is 25 years old and has a two-year-old child, and she is carrying her second child in her womb.
The months of pregnancy passed, and the time of childbirth came, and one of her neighbors provided a bus fare and took her to Al-Shifa Medical Center. After about an hour of travel, Huda finally arrived at the center, and was received by the medical staff supported by Deem for Development Organization and funded by UNFPA Yemen , and they entered the delivery room To save her and her child’s life.
Huyam, a midwife at Al-Shifa Health Center, says: “When Huda arrived at the center, she seemed tired and anxious, so I calmed her down and raised her spirits.Thanks to God, she gave birth safely. Now she and her baby are in good health, My happiness is indescribable when I save two souls together…the mother and her child
